Updated 7 October 2026

Elation Limited Warranty – What You Need to Know

Elation products are backed by a limited warranty against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. Warranty periods and coverage vary depending on the product or product family.

This article provides a general overview of Elation's U.S. warranty. For complete terms, exclusions, and the most current warranty information, please review the Elation Limited Warranty (USA).

Who Is Covered?

Elation's U.S. Limited Warranty:

  • Applies to qualifying new Elation Professional, Obsidian, Netron and Magmatic products.

  • Applies to products purchased from an authorized Elation dealer within the United States, including U.S. possessions and territories.

  • Applies to the original purchaser/owner.

  • Is not transferable.

  • May not apply to products sold or forwarded outside the United States.

  • For products purchased on or after June 1, 2024, the current warranty periods listed below apply, subject to the full warranty terms and conditions.

What Does the Warranty Cover?

Depending on the product category, the warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship.

A manufacturing defect is different from damage or deterioration resulting from use, handling, improper installation, environmental conditions, unauthorized modification, or normal maintenance requirements.

What Are the Warranty Periods?

Coverage varies by product category. Current U.S. warranty periods include:

  • Indoor Lighting Products: 2 years parts and labor.

  • Outdoor IP65/IP66 Lighting Products: 2 years parts and labor, subject to application and environmental requirements.

  • DMX, Data Distribution, Dimming and LED Pixel Driver Control Products: 2 years parts and labor.

  • Obsidian Control Systems Products: 2 years parts and labor.

  • Magmatic Atmospheric Products: 2 years. The first year includes parts and labor; the second year is labor only.

  • Magmatic Prisma LED Lighting Products: 2 years parts and labor.

  • Smarty Series: 2 years or the rated lamp-life hours specified by Elation, whichever occurs first.

  • Select LED Series Products: 3 years parts and labor, with qualifying LED Engines covered for 5 years, subject to applicable conditions.

  • Qualifying KL Series Products: 5 years parts and labor, with qualifying LED Engines covered for 5 years, subject to applicable conditions.

  • Fuze Pendant, Fuze Pendant Compact and Fuze Pendant HW: 5 years parts and labor, with qualifying LED Engines covered for 5 years.

  • OPS – Outdoor Permanent Specification Products: 5 years parts and labor, with qualifying LED Engines covered for 5 years, subject to applicable conditions.

  • Rechargeable Batteries: 6 months, battery part only; labor is not included.

Some products, applications and components have additional requirements or exclusions. Always check the complete Elation Limited Warranty (USA) for the specific product.

LED Engine Coverage

Certain qualifying products include separate LED Engine warranty coverage.

Where applicable:

  • Coverage applies to failure of the LED Engine itself.

  • Coverage does not include related PCBs, drivers, power supplies or associated components/subassemblies.

  • Lumen maintenance and color maintenance are not covered.

  • Required LED Fan Kit maintenance must be performed at the specified fixture-hour intervals.

  • Failure to perform required LED Fan Kit maintenance may void LED Engine warranty coverage.

  • Environmental conditions, voltage, usage patterns, control, dimming and maintenance history may be considered when determining warranty eligibility.

Outdoor, Permanent and Extreme Environments

The intended application of the product can affect warranty coverage.

Some products are warranted specifically for professional entertainment use or temporary professional entertainment use.

For example:

  • Certain IP-rated products have different coverage when used in permanent outdoor installations.

  • Some KL products qualify for 5-year coverage when used for temporary outdoor professional entertainment purposes, while permanent outdoor installations are limited to 2 years.

  • OPS products are specifically designed for long-term outdoor installation.

  • Marine, seaside or extreme outdoor environments should be pre-approved by Elation.

  • These environments may require additional corrosion-resistant coating or sealing before installation.

  • Installation or use in these environments without Elation pre-approval may void warranty coverage.

If you are unsure whether your intended installation qualifies, contact Elation before installation.

What Is Not Covered?

The Elation Limited Warranty does not cover everything associated with owning or maintaining a fixture.

Examples include:

  • Routine or periodic fixture maintenance.

  • Discharge lamps, except where specifically identified in the warranty terms.

  • Included or optional accessories such as power, data and safety cables, clamps, rigging hardware, gel/frost filters and frames, barn doors and cases.

  • Third-party products distributed by Elation.

  • Custom-designed or special-order OEM products under the standard warranty.

  • Damage or conditions excluded under the complete warranty terms.

B-Stock products have separate applicable warranty terms. Contact Elation for details.

What Can Affect Warranty Eligibility?

Warranty eligibility may be affected by several factors, including:

  • Where and from whom the product was purchased.

  • The product's intended and actual application.

  • Environmental conditions.

  • Required maintenance.

  • Product or light-source operating hours.

  • Unauthorized repair or modification.

  • Altered or removed serial numbers or product labels.

  • Failure to provide acceptable proof of purchase, serial number or applicable maintenance records.

Do not alter factory calibration, modify the product, or perform unauthorized internal repairs in an attempt to correct a warranty-related issue.

How Do I Obtain Warranty Service?

Before returning a product to Elation:

  • Contact Elation and obtain a Return Materials Authorization (RMA) number.

  • Have the product model and serial number available.

  • Provide acceptable proof of purchase, such as an invoice copy or approved Elation Extended Warranty Certificate.

  • Provide relevant maintenance records when applicable.

  • Describe the problem and any troubleshooting already performed.

Do not return equipment without first obtaining an RMA.
